In the summer, I go to a garden to make ink drawings of the blossoms I see. This is my artistic playground. It can often take 10 visits to create one of these pieces. I spend a lot of time in observation and, line by line, trusting light and shape, I build the blossom one tiny line after another. Using black and white to depict blossoms emphasizes its engineering and shape.
